I absolutely love this entire album! My favorite song on the album has changed from time to time, but began with the song Hace tiempo. I remember that the first time that I listened to that song, I played it several times; at least 10, but probably more! "Damn," I thought, "that song is one bad mother... shut yo' mouth!" The song made such an impression that even as I re-write this review for the third or fourth time, I can hear the chorus of the song echoing in the back of my mind: "Ay, ay, ay, no me hagas padecer así" (don't make me suffer like this). FULL NAME: Catalino Curet Alonso
DATE OF BIRTH: February 12, 1926
PLACE OF BIRTH: Guayama, Puerto Rico
DEATH: August 5, 2001
Catalino Curet Alonso was one of the most prolific Puerto Rican composers of the popular pentagram. His extensive musical harvest, prodigal in discographic classics and in diffusion, turned him into one of the authors that more songs took to the first place of the lists of successes in the Caribbean
He was born in the Hoyo Inglés neighborhood of the municipality of Guayama. His mother was a seamstress; his father, musician of the Simón Madera orchestra and Spanish teacher. Before the separation of his parents, Tite moved with his mother to Barrio Obrero in San Juan. According to him, when he asked his father for money, he would return the letter with the correct correction of accents and with the order fulfilled.
His career in music began with basic education in theory and solfege with Professor Jorge Rubián. But it was precisely in 1965 when he took his first steps in the songbook to compose in New York several topics for Joe Quijano.
